Social  Media Volunteer

Are you passionate about social media and have a knack for creativity? We are seeking a Social Media Volunteer to aid us with the management and development of our social media platforms. Potential activities include creating a promotional video, launching a social media crowdfunding fundraiser on our behalf, and more. We encourage creativity and any other ideas you might have.

Boys Lead Foundation was founded in November 2016, in Houston, Texas. We serve Boys in Buffalo – New York, Houston- Texas, Toronto-Canada, Lagos-Abuja-Ilorin Nigeria.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Program Director in developing, implementing, and evaluating social media plans based on Pact West Africa project objectives.
  • Collating stories and profiles from Boys Lead Foundation programs 
  • Ensure proper and selective use of social media for the target audiences.
  • Identify potential opportunities and risks which might arise through audience engagement, and propose solutions.

  • Work with & Program Director to ideate and produce creative content for social media.
  • Work closely with the program team & Program director to determine digital communication goals for reach and engagement through social media.
  • Scheduling posts and monitoring Boys Lead Foundation’s social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn).
  • Growing the following of and interaction with Boys Lead Foundation social media platforms.
  • Outreach to influencers and other campaign partners.
  • Using marketing tools, including social media, to engage a range of audiences and promote causes.

 

About you

  • Proven ability to use own initiative in identifying relevant information and content for the campaign or communications output.
  •  Experience in social media content creation is required.
  • Outstanding communication skills and an understanding of media, multimedia, and social media are required.
  • Experience with digital analytics and other social media tools for efficient management of digital communications is preferred.

Grant Writing and Fundraising Volunteer

Joining us as a Grant Writer would entail searching for grant opportunities and then gaining firsthand experience by writing initial proposals and fine-tuning grant submissions along with our team of Directors. We welcome all levels of experience with this position.

Responsibilities

  1. Research various grants for boys, and educational and vocational scholarships.
  2. Write 1-3 grants a week to corporations, foundations, both state and federal organizations, and other entities.
  3. Help brainstorm creative and strategic ways to connect our mission to a foundation’s priorities.
  4. Create and maintain grant calendar to track proposal and report deadlines.
  5. Perform prospect research on foundations and corporations
  6. Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation and corporate sources.
  7. Provide support to the CEO for meetings with donors.
  8. Assist with other fundraising projects as requested.
  9. Coordinate and follow up on the progress of submitted proposals
  10. Develop materials showing the progress of programs for donor updates and ongoing communications.
  11. Comply with all grant reporting as required by foundation/corporate donors.
  12. Write and maintain correspondence including concept notes, proposals, reports, and introductions.

Qualification                   

  • University Degree in creative writing or related field.
  • Knowledge in research and grant writing; nonprofit experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of fundraising information sources.
  • Experience with proposal writing and institutional donors.
  • Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies. Knowledge and familiarity with research techniques for fundraising prospect research.
  • Detail-oriented and exceptionally organized.
  • Clear, precise, and compelling writing skills.

Volunteer Photographer/ Videographer

We are seeking volunteers with talents and expertise in photography and videography who believe in what we believe – that every child (Male or Female) deserves the opportunity to achieve their purpose and dreams irrespective of race, color, religion, age, or sexual orientation.

The role will include (but isn’t restricted to) the following:

  • Taking photographs and videos for use on our website, on our social media pages, or on our flyers
  • Photographing staff, volunteers, and supporters at various organized events
  •  Processing and editing photographs and videos. 
  •  Obtaining consent at the time of taking pictures and drafting letters in cases where it may be needed.
  • Working closely with the Social Media Lead to create content for the organization. 
  • Capture photos and/or film at live events
  • Edit album of photos and upload into Google Drive

What is expected of you? 

  • Ability to be well-detailed and deliver on time.
  • Outgoing and proactive.
  •  Good communication skills. 
  • Advise the organization as relevant media purchases.

  • Arriving on time for duty and remaining professional in your interactions with all stakeholders.
  • Making recommendations for improvement where feasible and appropriate.
  • Delivering reports if necessary or required 
  • Communicating with the supervisor in case of emergency situation or changes of plans.
